11 Oz C Handle ceramic Mug
Congratulations to Loyola student Anthony ’28, whose creative design will grace this year’s Loyola holiday mug!
Anthony shares the inspiration behind his design:
"Graphic design has always been my passion, and I wanted to share some of my skills with the Loyola community. When I heard about this contest, I dove into my design software and got to work, incorporating key elements like the IHS sunburst, the Loyola logo, and the fluffy white snow that makes our winters magical. May this festive mug make your coffee or hot chocolate a little merrier this holiday season!"
"IHS" comes from the first three letters of Jesus’ name in Greek (ΙΗΣΟΥΣ – Iēsous). The first three letters, ΙΗΣ, become IHS in Latin script.
The rays of the sun, or the sunburst, carry several layers of significance. They symbolize the visions in which God revealed Himself to St. Ignatius. The sunburst can also represent the rising sun in the East, a symbol of Christ’s coming into the world. As the natural source of energy, life, and light, the sun is prophetically fulfilled by the Light of the Word, Jesus Christ. Ultimately, the sunburst reflects the Glory of God, which Jesuits are called to embody in all their endeavours, both spiritual and apostolic.
